Sir Walter Miler – spectator race August 3rd
The Sir Walter Miler began due to lack of stateside races for American athletes. In June 2013, Sandy Roberts was coming his best collegiate season, and couldn’t find any meets, that weren’t in Europe, to continue his development. With this position, the “Sandman Mile” was created for Roberts to attempt a sub 4:00 mile with only his brother as the pacer. The event was promoted for only a few days, and would take place at the end of football practice, with the lights still on, at Cardinal Gibbons High School. Hundreds showed up and lined the track to cheer Roberts on. The next year, the Sir Walter Miler took that energy and developed it into a mile-centric event, which has only grown since.
The race has since transformed into a highly competitive run, drawing the fastest 1-mile sprinters from around the world to Raleigh, N.C. Get out and watch the race on Friday, August 3rd and be inspired to get fast!!
Oak City Mile – September 9th
The Oak City Mile includes a Men’s Competitive One Mile Race at 2pm followed by a Women’s Competitive Mile Race at 2:20. There is also an untimed recreational run at 2:40, concluded by a post-race party at 3pm for everyone. The races are open to all runners regardless of age or speed.
Core Results and a number of our clients will be participating in the Oak City Mile, and we would love for you to be apart of it. The preparation starts now, don’t hesitate to contact us for more information and begin training today!
